COUNSELLING AND WELL BEING

HOW I CAN SUPPORT YOU

Hi, I’m Katy

I’m a down-to-earth and intuitive counsellor, I provide a compassionate and inclusive space where every story is welcome. My approach is Integrative, meaning I base my practice on my core training from a humanistic , person-centred approach but can blend techniques from different modalities or work creatively to support your needs, focusing on you as the whole person , mind , body, emotions and social aspects. I have experience with a diverse range of clients including grief and loss, narcissistic abuse, relationship breakdowns, stress, anxiety, depression, menopause, empty nest syndrome, male stigma and the LGBTQIA+ community. I have lived experience of a late diagnosis of ADHD and discovered the link between female hormones and ADHD symptoms. I am particularly interested in supporting neurodivergent clients.

My goal is to offer a safe, non- judgemental space for you to explore thoughts and feelings. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work . I believe healing doesn’t just happen through techniques or theories - it happens also through connection. Many people imagine counselling as heavy, serious and intense all the time, and while we absolutely make space for the difficult, painful and vulnerable moments, there is also room for warmth, lightness and even humour. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership. You are the expert on your own life . My role is not to fix you, or tell you who you are . I can work alongside you whilst navigating change or simply just listen so you feel cared for and accepted as your authentic self.

I primarily offer face-to-face counselling in a safe and confidential setting. I also provide online and telephone sessions for clients who prefer remote support, as well as walk-and-talk therapy for those who find it helpful to talk while walking outdoors.

Together, we can choose what feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.

walk and Talk therapy

Walk and talk therapy offers the opportunity to have counselling outdoors , walking side by side in a natural setting rather than sitting face to face in a therapy room.

For some people , being outside can feel less intense and more relaxed. Walking alongside each other can ease the pressure of eye contact and help conversations flow more naturally. Movement can also support emotional processing - sometimes it feels easier to talk about difficult experiences when we are physically moving forwards.

Nature has a way of grounding us . The sound of the birds , the feeling of fresh air, and the changing of the seasons can help regulate the nervous system and reduce stress. Being outdoors can:

  • Support emotional regulation

  • Encourage mindfulness

  • Reduce overwhelm

  • Create space to breathe and reflect

  • Help clients feel more connected to themselves and the world around them

Using nature as a metaphor in Counselling

Nature offers powerful metaphors that can deepen reflection and insight. For example:

  • Changing seasons can reflect cycles of growth, rest and renewal

  • Weather can mirror our emotional states

  • The butterfly can symbolise transformation

Walk and Talk Therapy- Starting Safely Together

Before we begin working outside, I believe its important that we first meet face-to-face in a private counselling room. Beginning the work indoors for the first few sessions allows us to:

  • Build trust and rapport in a confidential space

  • Explore your needs , goals, and any risk factors safely

  • Discuss boundaries, confidentiality, and what feels comfortable for you

  • Ensure walk and Talk therapy is appropriate and supportive for your circumstances
